Vinakoper Winery has won new awards at the prestigious Wine Luxe International Awards Hong Kong, once again ranking among the best in the world. In a fierce competition of wines from all over the world, the international sommeliers awarded the CAPO D'ISTRIA MERLOT 2016 with a gold medal - it proved the success of the wines from the Littoral region.

Hong Kong is considered one of the most important wine hubs in Asia, and the accolades from the prestigious Wine Luxe International Awards bring high-profile promotion across a market that boasts high added value and greater purchasing power.

Last year, the Vinakoper Winery in Hong Kong swept the competition in the sparkling wine category, with Capris Rosé being named the overall winner, and continued its success in this year's competition.

More than 30 of the best international sommeliers and wine experts from all over Asia, who judged more than 100 wine samples from all over the world, confirmed the excellence and quality of the wines from the Littoral region, awarding them two medals. The gold medal in the category "The best Old World Red" was awarded to the extremely rich CAPO D'ISTRIA MERLOT 2016, with a taste reminiscent of ripe red fruit, leather, dark chocolate, tobacco and forest undergrowth, while the bronze medal was awarded to the CAPO D'ISTRA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2016, with notes of sour cherries in brandy, dark chocolate and tobacco.

These two awards round off the rich collection of awards Vinakoper received in 2021, both at the domestic Malvasia Festival and VINO Gornja Radgona, as well as at the international Decanter Fine Wine Encounter in London, AWC Vienna in Vienna, Austria and the Great American International Wine Competition in the USA.
