MEASURE 10 -AGRI-ENVIRONMENTAL-CLIMATE PAYMENTS

Title of activity
Agri-environment-climate payments (Measure 10)

Objectives
Reduce the environmental impact of farming

Expected results
Conserving biodiversity and landscapes, proper water and soil management, and mitigating and adapting farming to climate change.

Executive summary
The agri-environmental-climate payments measure (the "AEC" measure) supports agriculture in its environmental function and aims to promote above-standard sustainable farming practices aimed at conserving biodiversity and landscapes, appropriate water and soil management, and mitigating and adapting farming to climate change. The payments encourage the implementation of farming practices that go beyond the mandatory standards, i.e. normal farming practices. These are not income payments, but payments to cover the additional costs and loss of income resulting from the implementation of the above-standard requirements of the AEC measure. These payments "reward" the farmer as a steward of the environment, whose activities, in addition to producing food, preserve nature, protect water and soil, maintain landscapes, and provide socially important services and non-commodity public goods.

Main activites
The "Wine-growing" operation involves a change in the existing farming practices. It aims to maintain and improve soil properties and fertility through the controlled application of fertilisers and plant protection products, and helps to reduce erosion and nutrient leaching.
